Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!
We are going trick or treating with my friend Jill and her family tonight since there aren't many kiddos in our condo complex. More pictures of tonights events to follow!
Here is Mr. Dog Dog. So cute!

Our "gunkins" (as Griffin says). Dada carved the big one with the moley moley and Griffin and I did his with the g (you cant really tell it is a g in the picture).

Griffy with his G pumpkin
We went to a Halloween play date yesterday morning. Check out all the kiddos. Poor Griffin was not too excited when I had to rush to get his costume on. He had fun once all the rushing was over.

Snow in October!!

It snowed today! I don't think I have ever seen snow in October! It was abnormally cold yesterday and today. We heard there was snow in other parts of New Mexico, so we were surprised to see some at home today.

We had just put Griffin down for a nap today and I sat on the couch to relax for a second. I look out the window and it was snowing! It actually came down pretty good, but only for about 30 minutes or so. I was so excited to let Griffin play in the snow when he woke up. But, it was all melted by the time he got up.

Random picture of the grill. You could just really see it against the black cover.
I still took a picture of him with what was left!

Eggs

Griffin is officially allergic to eggs. We got the results back from his allergy test late yesterday. They consider him at a level 3 (out of 6). He is a level 3 for egg yolks and 4 for egg whites. Nothing we can really do about it, but avoid them for now. Apparently, it is a fairly common allergy in young kids and most out grow it.

As I mentioned before, we are lucky that he is not highly allergic as so many things are made with eggs. He doesn't seem to show a reaction if they are cooked into something, perhaps it dilutes them? We will just avoid plain eggs and anything that consists of mostly eggs.

The doctor said that we will just have him retested in a year or so to see if he shows an progression.

Word Wednesday

Today has been one of those days, one of those days you wish you had a do over! It all started about 6:45am this morning when Ryan was on his way to his first appointment and got in an accident. Luckily, everyone was ok, but still it was his very first accident ever. Pretty good for being 30. The guy in front of him slammed on his brakes out of no where and so he had to and could not stop in time. It didn't do any damage to the other guys car, but did some pretty good damage to the torrey (the torrent). So, we had to call State Farm and get it to a body shop asap as Ryan needs his car to work. He got a fancy rental car. A Kia something. It is actually pretty nice. It looks kind of like a Honda. They said it could take a week or two to get his car back, so we will see. I wish I would have thought to take some pictures of the torrey before it went to the body shop. Oh well....

The whole day was just a mess and to put it all together, we go get the mail after dinner and look what is in the mail. A SPEEDING TICKET! It was 56 in a 45. Apparently, it was from like 2 weeks ago at some monitored intersection. Ryan said that he better slow down because no one does 45 on that road.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day! :)

15 Month Well Check Up

Griffin had his 15 month well check today at his new doctor. He checked out great. Weighing in at 25.2 pounds (70 percentile) and 30 inches (25 percentile). Poor buddy, looks like the Barlow is still in him!
It actually was quite the eventful visit. The nurse made us strip him down for the scale and he was not very happy about that. He cried. We calmed him down and put his jacket and diaper back on (see above). We played while waiting for the doctor. Well, the doc comes in with his physician's assistant student. He asks if it is ok to let her check him out and he will come back in a little bit. Sure, why not. Well, that was a mistake. She was terribly slow (not the best with a crying toddler) and I hate to say it, could really use some interpersonal skills. Just imagine Christine from Grey's Anatomy and her pediatric skills. :) Needless to say, if she is there on the next visit, we will be asking for the doctor. Griffin had to get two shots as well, which he was not a happy camper with that either.
Not sure all of you know, but Griffin has a minor egg allergy. If he eats/comes in contact with plain eggs, he gets a rash on his face or anywhere the egg touches (not too bad as some people have breathing problems, etc). If eggs are in cookies, etc he doesn't show a reaction. We knew he needed to be tested, so I mentioned it to the doctor and they told us to go to the lab and have him tested. Well, tested means a needle in a 15-month olds arm. He screamed. Ryan had to hold him down as mama is not the strong one for that stuff (I was tearing up myself). So, the poor child is probably traumatized from this mornings events, but it had to be done.
He actually is back to his happy self and doing just fine. We will find out in a few days how bad his allergy is. See below for his poor little bandage from having blood drawn. :(

15 months/18 weeks

Today marks Griffin at 15 months and our little lady at 18 weeks.

First, lets talk about our main man, he has come a very long way in the last month.

-He is WALKING now! And of course, that is all he wants to do. I put the car in park and he says "walk, walk." It is actually much easier for me now that I told have to carry him around all the time. He was starting to get heavy! He doesn't really crawl all that much.

-He is talking more than ever now. Ryan and I counted and he knows and says about 35 words. Some of his latest: baby (see below), pumpkin, cat, please, cracker, bus, tractor and so many more.

-He had his first hair cut. I have to say it was long over due. He looks like such a little man now.

- We can see the tantrums coming. He is starting to get very frustrated when he doesn't get his way or can't figure something out. We just take a breath and talk him through trying to figuring it out.

- He loves cars and trucks. He made a ramp out of a book and pushed a car up and down it.

-He is so smart. We get stunned regularly about how much he knows.

-He is a Mama's Boy! If he gets hurt or something doesn't go his way, he says mama over and over and only wants me to comfort him. It is pretty cool actually. He LOVES to play with his daddy though. Dada can play much better than mama.

-He gives the best kisses! You can tell him to give you a kiss and he will plant a smooch right on the lips. SO cute!

-He is going to be the best big brother to his baby sister!

We go for this 15 month checkup on Tuesday, so I will update with stats then.

Now for the little lady...

-First off, we know we are going to be blessed with a baby girl! We are ecstatic.

-I feel her move more and more each day. The ultrasound showed her looking healthy!

-She doesn't have a name yet, but we are working on it. We are pretty close though.

-She does have about 5 outfits to date. ;)

Below is one of the latest things that Griffin says. Sorry it is sideways again! I shot it with the camera vertical and didn't even think about it. If you cant tell what we are saying, I ask him what is in mama's belly and he says baby. :)

It is a quick video, so you may want to play it twice.

Sandia Peak

Ryan took some daddy time while Griffin was napping and drove up to the Sandia Peak today. He has been wanting to go again for quite some time now, but I told him I just couldn't go again. It is too many curves for a pregnant lady. He got some great pictures and I wanted to post a few.
Shows the elevation on his GPS. 10672ft.

He said there was a good amount of snow up there.

Its a..........

GIRL!
Well, we couldn't wait any longer so we decided to go to the 3D ultrasound place and have the gender determination done. To our surprise, we are having a baby girl. I say to our surprise, because we were both pretty positive we were going to have another boy. We both could not be more excited! I am excited about the bond between a mother and daughter! I also have to admit that bows and pink are making me happy too! :) Griffin is going to be the best big brother to his sister.

Now we just need a name for this little one. Ansley is front runner as of now. We still want to entertain some "B" names. I love the sound of the same letter for first and last. Please please let me know if you have any suggestions! We need them.
Well, be thinking of our sweet little girl!

17 weeks

I hit the 17 week mark today. Crazy! It has flown by. Knock on wood, this continues to be an easy pregnancy. I am just tired, but I am chasing around my little man. I have felt the baby move, which is such a joy! We can not wait to find out the gender. Shouldn't be too much longer!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to McCall's Pumpkin Patch today. It is a little less than an hour from Albuquerque. We were told it was a must for the kiddos. Now this place was not just a pumpkin patch. They had all kinds of stuff to do. We all had a blast. Sorry for all the pictures! I couldn't narrow it down. You can click on them to make them larger.

The sign says "how tall this fall." I can't wait to see how much he has grown next year.
Our little family

The pumpkin we picked out. It is a monster!

Stuck in the sand on the tractor

At the petting zoo. They actually had a lot of animals there. Griffin really enjoyed petting the goats.

They had this awesome slide. See Griffin and Dada at the top.

Here they are coming out. Griffin was holding his hands up towards the top wanting to go again. They went twice!

Kings of the castle. They climbed to the top of the hay tower.
Me and my best bud
They also had a corn maze, jump jumps, pumpkin slingshot, pumpkin cannon, pedal cars and much more. He is going to have a field day next year at this place!

First Hair Cut

Griffin got his very first haircut today. It was all over the place, so we finally decided to cut it. He looks SO cute! He was not a fan of the actual haircutting process. He cried and! The lady said that he did really good, but as you can tell in the after picture, there were some tears shed.

Like a new man!

Pumpkin Patch

We visited our first pumpkin patch this morning. We went with my friend Jill and some of her buddies. There was so much going on, I could not get Griffin to look at me to take a picture.

He is doing a little pumpkin bowling here. This pumpkin patch was very small. We plan to go visit the big one either this weekend or next.

SOLD!!!

We finally sold it! To fill everyone in, we moved to Albuquerque with our home still for sale in GA. Well, we closed today! It is such a relief to wash our hands of it. Although sad, it was our first house and Griffin will never remember it. We had some good times in that house. It was truly a home and I loved living there.
Hopefully, now we can move forward with the home we have an offer on here! We have an offer on a short sale, which if you know anything about them, they can take a while. Our agent hopes that they are in the final stages of getting it approved. So, maybe soon we will get something in the works on that one!
PS...sorry if you are seeing this twice. For some strange reason, it posted it as an older post so I am reposting!

Pearly Whites

I need your help! We have been brushing Griffin's teeth since the day that he got his first one. Well, it is not so easy anymore. Lately, he freaks out about 30 seconds into the process. We think that it might be the new teeth he has coming in?

We don't know what to do. We talked about how we needed to make it "fun" or something. I just don't want us brushing his teeth and him screaming to create some sort of fear of the toothbrush (or probably the dentist) down the line. Please please, any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

We have to keep the pearly whites sparkly!

Church take 2

We finally went on our second attempt at church yesterday. It was a Lutheran church that we had found and it looked pretty promising. Well, we didn't really like it. We did not bail, we stayed the whole time and it was a little too contemporary and small for our taste. We are going to try a Baptist one this Sunday and see how we like it.

I guess it is trial and error. We will see!

Sorry no pictures this time. I actually took a few of Griffin and then realized later that the memory card wasn't in the camera. Doesn't do much good without it! :)

Monkey Mania

Griffin had a play date at Monkey Mania (an "adventure" play place). They have several rooms with different things to do, arts and crafts, toddler room, a jump jump, a climbing/ball area, a dress up room/runway, etc. It was a really cool place. Probably for when Griffin gets a little older, but fun nonetheless.

We met one of my MOPS pals Melanie and her 3 kids there. Two of her kids are older (7 and 5) and the other is 20 months. It was a little difficult making every kid happy (everyone wanted to be in a different room), but we made it work.

Griffin in the jump jump (trying to survive with the big kids in there). Oh and p.s. lately I have been telling him to say cheese when I try to take a picture. He says cheese and this is what I get. Precious!

The cool fort in the toddler room (telling him to say cheese again).

Balloon Fiesta

Many of you probably have not heard of Balloon Fiesta, I hadn't until I became a New Mexican. They have a week long series of events just for hot air balloons. We went to the Special Shapes Glowdeo last night. It is for all the special shapes balloons (not your typical round balloon). You can walk through this huge field and they just blow them up at night, they don't actually fly them. It was so cool to be so close to so many. Once it gets dark, they do a count down and they all light their fires and all the balloons glow all at once (hints Glowdeo). It was so cool. Never in my life have I experienced something like this. Very unique.

We got there fairly early and walked around to soak up all the cool stuff. We met up with my friend Clara and her family after a little while.

We had a ton of pictures but I tried to pick my favs...

The Bumble Bees

We enjoyed some "Southern Style" BBQ. I saw the sign and jumped all over that. The guy was actually from South Carolina. It was delicious! Griffin scarfed it up!!

Griffin flirting with Addisyn and Aryssa (Clara's daughters)

The Glowdeo
They had a fireworks show after the glowdeo and we weren't really sure how Griffin would do. He had never seen fireworks before. He loved them! He kept clapping and ooing and awwing at them.

Tired Boy

I guess it isn't wordless Wednesday when I actually write something. Oh well...
We had MOPS this morning and had fun again! We got home about 11:45, so I promptly made lunch (I could tell Griffin was tired), but him in his high chair and he chowed down. Once he was finished, I got him out of his chair and put him down (which is what I usually do and he walks around/plays while I clean up). As I am doing the dishes, I realize that there is no noise. That is never a good sign. So, I walk around the corner to find this...
Looks like he partied too hard with the moppets! :)
